Alick Brownlee
Alick Brownlee recently graduated from the University of Sheffield with a 2:1 MEng in Aerospace Engineering. His Master’s dissertation focused on designing a turbine to support a small bipropellant rocket engine, reflecting his broader academic focus on aerospace propulsion technologies and design. During his time at university, he contributed to multiple student-led projects. At Project Falcon, which aimed to build a multi-use uncrewed aerial vehicle, he initially served as a design engineer before being promoted to head of flight dynamics, overseeing aerodynamics and propulsion. Later, he became the project’s chief engineer, leading the structures and avionics teams. Alick also worked on Project: Kestrel, an initiative to build a large uncrewed aircraft capable of delivering medical supplies to remote hospitals in Africa. There, he served as head of aerostructural engineering and eventually as a project advisor, providing managerial and technical guidance. In addition, Alick collaborated with Sheffield’s SunrIde Project to help develop recovery systems for the ambitious “Karman Alpha” rocket, targeting a maximum altitude of 50 km. Beyond his academic and project work, he enjoys hiking, playing tennis, watching Formula 1, and exploring video games in his spare time.
